It's the start of the New Year. That only means one thing: The nation is in 'New Year New Me' mode.
So, we thought it would be the perfect time of year to share with you some fitness related content as the nation looks to burn some of that post-Christmas podge.
Inspired by YouTube fitness influencer Mike Thurston, we asked Sheffield Hallam University Strength and Conditioning Coach Dylan Martens one simple question: If you could only do 5 gym exercises for the rest of your life, what would they be and why?
This is Dylan's response:
1. The Squat
2. The Deadlift
3. Bench Press
4. Chin Ups
5. Calf Raises
6. A Bonus Exercise: The Clean
The majority of these exercises involve a lot of your most important muscle groups, so they are great to help you improve your overall strength and conditioning. You can do 3 sets of 8 reps with every workout when doing this in the gym!
